For the cookie bars-
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, fluffed*
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the frosting-
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3–4 tablespoons milk
- Sprinkles, if desired, for decoration
Instructions
- For the cookie bars- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Add dry ingredients and mix. Spread dough in dish and bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool.
- For the frosting- Mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add milk to reach desired consistency. Spread over cooled bars and decorate with sprinkles. Cut and serve.
Notes
- Fluffing the flour means to aerate it before measuring.
- Ensure bars are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
