Egg Wash:
- 1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon of water
Cheese Filling:
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta
- 1/4 cup grated mozzarella
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- A few grates of fresh nutmeg
- 1 10–ounce package of frozen chopped spinach, defrosted and squeezed dry
- 1 puff pastry sheet, defrosted
Instructions
- Prepare Egg Wash: Whisk together the egg and water, and set aside.
- Make Cheese Filling: Mix together the cheeses, onion, and seasonings. Set aside.
- Assemble Pinwheels: Roll out the puff pastry, brush with egg wash, spread cheese mixture, and spinach. Roll up the pastry like a jellyroll.
- Cut and Bake: Slice the roll, place on baking sheets, and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden.
Notes
- For a decorative touch, sprinkle some sesame seeds or poppy seeds on the pinwheels before baking.
- Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite herbs or additional ingredients.
