Description

This Slow Cooker Pierogies recipe combines frozen cheddar pierogies, sliced kielbasa, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese in a flavorful chicken broth base. The dish is slow-cooked to perfection, delivering a comforting, cheesy, and savory meal that’s easy to prepare and perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 32 oz. frozen classic cheddar pierogies (two 16-oz. boxes, Mrs. T’s brand recommended)
  • 12 oz. kielbasa, sliced
  • 8 oz. cream cheese, cubed
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients: Place the frozen pierogies into the slow cooker. Add the sliced kielbasa, cubed cream cheese, and cheddar cheese on top of the pierogies, layering evenly.
  2. Pour Broth: Pour 3 cups of chicken broth over the pierogies and other ingredients, ensuring they are well covered.
  3. Slow Cook: Set the slow cooker to LOW and cook for 4 hours. Be careful not to cook longer as the pierogies may start to fall apart, affecting texture.
  4. Stir and Serve: After cooking, gently stir the mixture to combine the melted cheeses and broth. Serve warm immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • The kielbasa can be omitted to make this a vegetarian dish.
  • Feel free to substitute any flavor of pierogi such as onion, sauerkraut, or broccoli for variety.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
