Description

These Roast Beef Sliders with Hawaiian Rolls are a deliciously easy-to-make appetizer or meal featuring tender shredded roast beef, melted American cheese, and a flavorful butter sauce brushed on sweet, soft King’s Hawaiian rolls. Baked to golden perfection and optionally garnished with parsley and parmesan cheese, these sliders are perfect for game day, parties, or casual family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sliders:

  • 1 pkg 12 count King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 2 cups shredded roast beef
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or garlic paste

Butter Sauce:

  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds

Optional (for garnish after baking):

  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 2 Tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350℉. Prepare a 9×13 inch pan either by spraying it with cooking spray or lining it with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Lining with parchment paper will make it easier to remove the sliders after baking.
  2. Slice the Rolls: Use a serrated knife to carefully slice the King’s Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise. Keep the top halves and bottom halves as two separate slabs.
  3. Prepare and Spread Mayo Sauce: Combine the mayonnaise and garlic powder or garlic paste in a small bowl. Spread this mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Layer the shredded roast beef evenly over the mayo-coated bottom rolls. Then place a slice of American cheese on top of the roast beef. Cover everything with the top half of the rolls.
  5. Make and Brush Butter Sauce: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan. Stir in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard until well combined. Generously brush this butter sauce over the top of the assembled rolls. Sprinkle with poppy seeds or sesame seeds if desired.
  6. Bake the Sliders: Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to brown the tops slightly.
  7. Rest and Cut: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them rest for a couple of minutes; this helps the layers set and hold together. Transfer the sliders to a cutting board using the parchment paper or foil for easy lifting, and cut into individual sandwiches.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle parsley flakes and grated parmesan cheese over the top of the sliders if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Cheese Substitutions: Feel free to swap the American cheese with cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, pepper jack, Colby jack, or Swiss based on your preference.
  • Roast Beef Options: Instead of shredded roast beef, you can use thinly sliced deli roast beef for easier assembly.
  • Storage: Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to one month. Reheat in the microwave or in the oven at 325℉ until heated through. Oven reheating gives a crispier top.
