Description

This Best Ever Baked Salmon recipe offers a simple, flavorful way to prepare salmon fillets with a delicious honey-soy glaze. Perfectly baked to achieve tender, flaky fish with a touch of sweetness and tang, this recipe is ideal for a quick and healthy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Glaze Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets, 6 ounces each, skin on
  • 1 ½ tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Bring salmon to room temperature: Remove the salmon fillets from the refrigerator and let them sit out to come to room temperature while you prepare the glaze and preheat the oven. This ensures even cooking.
  2. Preheat oven and prepare baking dish: Preheat your oven to 400° F (204° C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or foil to prevent sticking and make for easier cleanup.
  3. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic until well combined.
  4. Season the salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin side down in the prepared baking dish. Pour and brush half of the glaze evenly over the salmon fillets, reserving the other half for later.
  5. Bake the salmon: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 12 minutes.
  6. Apply remaining glaze and finish baking: After the initial 12 minutes, brush the salmon with the remaining glaze. Continue baking for an additional 2 to 8 minutes until the salmon reaches your desired doneness. The salmon should flake easily with a fork when done. Thicker fillets may need more time to cook through. The FDA recommends an internal temperature of 145° F, but some prefer 125-130° F with a 3-minute rest before serving.

Notes

  • You can swap the honey-soy glaze for a dry rub using your favorite Salmon Seasoning if you prefer a drier crust on your fish.
  • Thicker fillets require longer cooking times; watch the salmon closely to avoid overcooking.
  • Using parchment paper or foil in the baking dish makes cleanup easier.
