Description
Create festive Jack O’ Lantern bowls using melted white chocolate tinted orange. These edible bowls are perfect for serving vanilla ice cream with a Halloween twist, decorated with classic jack-o-lantern faces using melted chocolate and colorful sprinkles.
Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Bowls
- 3 cups white chocolate chips
- Orange food coloring
- 4 small balloons
- Melted chocolate chips (for decorating, transferred to a small ziplock bag)
To Serve
- Vanilla ice cream
- Orange and black sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare Balloons: Inflate 4 small balloons to the size you want your chocolate bowl to be. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside to place the coated balloons on.
- Melt White Chocolate: Pour the white chocolate chips into a large microwave-safe bowl. Add 4 to 5 drops of orange food coloring and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Coat Balloons: Working with one balloon at a time, dip the bottom of each balloon into the orange melted chocolate. Roll the balloon so the coating is even and covers all sides. Place the coated balloon on the parchment-lined baking sheet and let it set for at least 1 hour to harden. Repeat for all balloons.
- Decorate Faces: Once the chocolate bowls have set and hardened, carefully pipe jack-o-lantern faces onto each bowl using the melted chocolate in the small ziplock bag. Allow the decorations to set for about 5 minutes.
- Remove Balloons & Serve: Gently pop each balloon and carefully remove it from inside the hardened chocolate bowls. Scoop vanilla ice cream into each bowl and sprinkle with orange and black sprinkles. Serve immediately to enjoy your spooky treats.
Notes
- Be sure the balloons are smaller than typical party balloons to create a manageable bowl size.
- Allow the chocolate bowls to fully harden before attempting to remove the balloons to avoid cracking.
- You can use dark or semi-sweet chocolate for decorating the faces for contrast.
- These bowls are best served immediately after adding ice cream as the chocolate will melt over time.
- For a sturdier bowl, consider applying a second chocolate layer after the first has set.
