Description

Create festive Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispies treats with vibrant orange and green stripes, shaped like pumpkins and decorated with candy corn and melted chocolate for fun Halloween-themed snacks.

Ingredients

Scale

Non-Stick Spray & Butter

  • Non-stick baking spray
  • 6 Tbsp. butter, divided

Marshmallow Mixtures

  • 1 drop green food coloring
  • 6 cups Mini Marshmallows, divided
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies, divided
  • 1 drop orange food coloring

Decorations

  • Candy corn, for eyes
  • Melted chocolate, for mouths

Instructions

  1. Prepare Green Mixture: Lightly coat a baking sheet with non-stick spray. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add green food coloring and 2 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until marshmallows are fully melted. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups Rice Krispies until well combined.
  2. Prepare Orange Mixture: In another saucepan over medium heat, melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir in orange food coloring and the remaining 4 cups of mini marshmallows. Cook until marshmallows melt completely. Remove from heat and add 4 cups of Rice Krispies, stirring until fully mixed.
  3. Form Layered Treats: Using slightly dampened hands, press the mixtures onto the prepared baking sheet in horizontal stripes, alternating three thin green stripes with larger orange stripes, creating a striped layered effect.
  4. Cut and Decorate: Use a 2.5-inch pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter to cut out pumpkin shapes from the layered Rice Krispies treats. Decorate each pumpkin by placing candy corn pieces for eyes and piping melted chocolate to create mouths.

Notes

  • Slightly dampen hands when pressing the mixture to prevent sticking.
  • Use a 2.5-inch pumpkin cookie cutter for uniform pumpkin shapes.
  • Melt chocolate carefully to ensure smooth piping for mouths.
  • Store treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
  • For a more vibrant color, use gel food coloring alternatives.
