Description

Refreshing and naturally sweet Honeydew Lemonade combines fresh lemon juice and sweet honeydew melon juice for a perfect summer beverage. This homemade lemonade features a simple syrup base made from sugar and water, blended with fresh citrus and melon juice for a cool, revitalizing drink that’s ideal for gatherings or a relaxing day.

Ingredients

Scale

Syrup

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water (for syrup)

Juices and Liquid

  • 1 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 6-8 lemons)
  • 1 cup fresh honeydew melon juice (from honeydew melon)
  • 4 cups cold water (to dilute)

To Serve

  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Juice the Lemons: While the syrup is simmering, squeeze fresh lemons until you have 1 1/4 cups of lemon juice, ensuring to remove seeds.
  3. Extract Honeydew Juice: Cut the honeydew melon into large cubes, removing the rind. Either use a juicer or blend the cubes at high speed until liquefied, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and get 1 cup of honeydew juice.
  4. Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, 4 cups cold water, the warm simple syrup, and the fresh honeydew melon juice. Stir well until everything is thoroughly mixed.
  5. Chill and Serve: Add lemon slices to the pitcher for garnish. When ready to serve, add ice cubes directly to the pitcher or to individual glasses for a chilled refreshing lemonade. If preparing in advance, refrigerate without ice and add ice just before serving.

Notes

  • You can adjust sugar according to taste for a sweeter or more tart lemonade.
  • Make the lemonade a day ahead and refrigerate for enhanced flavor blending.
  • Use ripe honeydew melon for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
  • If you prefer a pulpier lemonade, you can skip straining the honeydew juice.
  • For a sparkling version, substitute some or all of the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
