Meat and Seasonings
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Liquid and Pasta
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 8 oz mafalda pasta (or any short noodle)
- 2 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup milk
Cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef: Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into smaller pieces. Drain excess fat.
- Add seasonings: Stir in the dried minced onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes to distribute flavors.
- Add liquids and pasta: Pour in the marinara sauce, beef broth, and milk. Stir in the uncooked pasta, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze.
- Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Add cheese: Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover and simmer for 30 seconds until cheese melts and is bubbly.
- Serve: Dish out immediately, garnished if desired, while warm.
Notes
- Use any short pasta if mafalda is unavailable.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to taste.
- For a creamier texture, add more milk or cheese.
- This dish can be customized with additional toppings like fresh basil or Parmesan.
- Ensure to stir occasionally during simmering to prevent sticking.
