A quick and flavorful Homemade Hamburger Helper Lasagna, combining ground beef, Italian seasonings, and pasta in a rich marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, all cooked in one pot for easy cleanup and hearty satisfaction.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat and Seasonings

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Liquid and Pasta

  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 oz mafalda pasta (or any short noodle)
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk

Cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef: Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into smaller pieces. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add seasonings: Stir in the dried minced onion, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1-2 minutes to distribute flavors.
  3. Add liquids and pasta: Pour in the marinara sauce, beef broth, and milk. Stir in the uncooked pasta, scraping the bottom of the pot to deglaze.
  4. Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  5. Add cheese: Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover and simmer for 30 seconds until cheese melts and is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Dish out immediately, garnished if desired, while warm.

Notes

  • Use any short pasta if mafalda is unavailable.
  • Adjust salt and pepper according to taste.
  • For a creamier texture, add more milk or cheese.
  • This dish can be customized with additional toppings like fresh basil or Parmesan.
  • Ensure to stir occasionally during simmering to prevent sticking.
