Description

A festive Halloween Pumpkin Spiced Chex Mix featuring a sweet and spicy pumpkin glaze coating crunchy cereal, pretzels, Bugles, and pecans, finished with colorful candy corn and Reese’s Pieces for a perfect fall snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Pumpkin Spice Glaze

  • ¾ cup Brown sugar
  • ½ cup Butter (1 stick or 8 tbsp)
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 1½ tablespoons Pumpkin pie spice

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups Chex cereal (corn)
  • 2 cups Pretzels
  • 1½ cups Bugles
  • 1 cup Pecans
  • ¾ cup Candy corn
  • ¼ cup Reese’s Pieces or M&M’s (Fall mix)

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large microwave-safe bowl, mix the Chex cereal, Bugles, pretzels, and pecans together and set aside.
  2. Prepare Pumpkin Spice Glaze: Melt butter in the microwave, then whisk in brown sugar, vanilla extract, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth and lump-free.
  3. Coat Mix: Pour the pumpkin spice glaze over the dry ingredients and gently toss using your hands to evenly coat without breaking the pieces.
  4. First Microwave Session: Microwave the mixture on high for 2 minutes.
  5. Toss Mix: Remove and gently toss the mix with a rubber spatula or spoon to redistribute the glaze.
  6. Second Microwave Session: Return the bowl to the microwave and heat for another 2 minutes on high.
  7. Toss Again: Remove and gently toss once more to ensure even coating.
  8. Final Microwave Session: Heat the mixture for 1 additional minute in the microwave.
  9. Cool Mixture: Spread the hot mixture onto a nonstick baking pan or parchment paper and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes.
  10. Add Candy: After cooling, mix in the candy corn and Reese’s Pieces, then enjoy your festive Halloween treat.

Notes

  • Be gentle when tossing the mix to prevent breaking the cereal and pretzels.
  • Use a large enough microwave-safe bowl to avoid spills during microwaving.
  • Consume within a few days for best freshness as the glaze may soften the mix over time.
  • For a less sweet version, reduce the brown sugar slightly.
  • Substitute nuts or candies based on personal preferences or allergies.
