Description

This festive Halloween mocktail is a fruity and refreshing punch perfect for all ages. Made with non-alcoholic red wine or pomegranate/grape juice, mixed with fresh citrus and berries, spiced with cinnamon, and optionally fizzed up with sparkling water or ginger ale. It’s beautifully vibrant, slightly spiced, and can be sweetened with a touch of maple syrup, making it a delicious, seasonal drink to serve at Halloween parties or autumn gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 bottle non-alcoholic red wine OR 4 cups pomegranate or grape juice

Fruits

  • 2 oranges (or blood oranges), sliced
  • 20 black grapes, sliced
  • 15 blackberries or blueberries
  • 1 red apple, sliced
  • Extra fruit for garnish (optional)

Spices

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

Additional Liquids

  • 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (optional)
  • 2-4 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit and spices: Place the sliced oranges, black grapes, blackberries or blueberries, sliced red apple, and cinnamon sticks into a large pitcher or punch bowl.
  2. Add the base liquid: Pour the non-alcoholic red wine or pomegranate/grape juice over the fruit and spices. Stir gently to combine the flavors.
  3. Chill: Place the pitcher or punch bowl in the refrigerator and let the mixture seep for at least 1 hour. For a stronger infusion of fruit and spice flavors, chill it for 2 to 4 hours if possible.
  4. Prepare to serve: When ready to serve, stir the sangria gently again to mix the flavors evenly.
  5. Add sparkle: Pour in the sparkling water or ginger ale, if using, and stir very gently to preserve the bubbles.
  6. Sweeten: Taste the mocktail and add 2 to 4 tablespoons of maple syrup if you prefer it sweeter. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Serve: Pour the sangria over ice into glasses. Garnish each glass with extra orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and additional fruit if desired for a festive presentation.

Notes

  • You can substitute non-alcoholic red wine with 4 cups of pomegranate or grape juice depending on your preference or availability.
  • Adjust sweetness with maple syrup according to taste; it’s optional but adds a lovely depth to the flavor.
  • For more pronounced spice, let the fruit and cinnamon soak longer in the fridge, but avoid exceeding 4 hours to prevent fruit from becoming too soft.
  • If you prefer a non-carbonated drink, simply omit the sparkling water or ginger ale and serve chilled.
