Penne Pasta:
- 8 oz penne pasta
- 2 tsp salt
Sausage:
- 1 pound sausage (Jimmy Dean regular pork sausage recommended)
Heavy Cream Sauce:
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Add 2 tsp salt to a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions for al dente pasta.
- Cook the Sausage: In a separate large pan over medium-high heat, cook the sausage thoroughly. If adding garlic or chopped green peppers, add them with the sausage.
- Prepare the Sauce: Before draining the pasta, reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta water. Transfer the cooked sausage to a plate. Deglaze the pan with 1/2 cup of pasta water, then add the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer to thicken for 3-5 minutes.
- Combine and Serve: Add the drained pasta to the sauce, mix well to coat the pasta evenly. Stir in the cooked sausage and mix thoroughly. Serve hot.
