For the sushi:
- 1 recipe sushi rice
- 8 oz imitation crab sticks
- 3 Tbsp Japanese mayonnaise
- 1 avocado, ripe
- 1/2 English cucumber
- 8 sheets toasted nori seaweed, cut in half
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Black sesame seeds
- 16 tempura fried shrimp
Toppings:
- Unagi sauce
- Spicy mayo
Instructions
- Make the sushi rice: Prepare the sushi rice according to the recipe. It’s recommended to use a rice cooker. Let it cool.
- Prepare the crab mixture: Finely chop the imitation crab meat and mix it with Japanese mayonnaise. Set aside.
- Prepare the sushi mat: Wrap the bamboo sushi mat in plastic wrap for easy cleanup.
- Assemble the roll: Place a sheet of nori on the mat. Add a thin layer of rice, sprinkle sesame seeds, flip the nori, add crab mixture, cucumber, avocado, and shrimp.
- Roll the sushi: Using the mat, tightly roll the ingredients. Cut the roll into pieces.
- Top and serve: Drizzle spicy mayo and unagi sauce on top. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi.
