Ingredients

Scale

Filling Ingredients

  • 16 ounces (2 8-ounce packages) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 ounce packet dry ranch dressing mix
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • ⅓ cup thinly sliced green onion
  • 2½ cups cooked, shredded chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
  • 12 ounce package cooked, crumbled bacon
  • 1 cup mild shredded cheddar cheese

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups mild shredded cheddar cheese
  • 12 count package sweet Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half
  • 6 tablespoons salted sweet cream butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray. Set aside.
  2. Melt Cream Cheese: In a 4–5 quart heavy-bottom stock pot over medium heat, add the cream cheese and stir often until melted and smooth.
  3. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix, onion powder, and cracked black pepper over the melted cream cheese. Stir well to combine, then remove the pot from heat.
  4. Mix Filling: Stir in the green onions, shredded chicken, crumbled bacon, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese until fully incorporated into a creamy mixture.
  5. Assemble Base Layer: Place the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls in the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
  6. Spread Filling: Evenly spread the prepared chicken mixture over the bottom rolls.
  7. Add Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the remaining 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chicken mixture.
  8. Add Top Rolls: Lay the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls on top of the cheese layer to form sliders.
  9. Apply Butter: Using a pastry brush, brush the melted butter evenly over the top of the rolls.
  10. Sprinkle Parmesan: Evenly sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered rolls.
  11. Add Chives: Sprinkle the finely chopped fresh chives over the Parmesan layer for garnish and flavor.
  12. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven.
  13. Bake Uncovered: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-8 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and bubbly.
  14. Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • Storage: These sliders are best served fresh and warm but can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: The crack chicken filling can be frozen for up to 3 months; however, freezing the fully assembled sliders is not recommended. Store rolls separately.
  • Reheating: Reheat leftovers covered with foil in the oven or briefly in the microwave for convenience.
