Description

These Cobweb Brownies combine classic rich brownie squares topped with a fun and spooky marshmallow web design, perfect for Halloween or any themed party. The brownies are baked from a box mix for ease, then decorated with melted marshmallows stretched into a cobweb pattern for a delightful and unique presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Base

  • 1 box brownie mix (enough for a 9”x13” pan)

Cobweb Topping

  • 1 cup marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9”x13” baking pan generously with cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the brownies.
  2. Make and Bake Brownies: Prepare the brownie mix according to the instructions on the box, then pour the batter evenly into the greased pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or as directed on the box, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven and let cool completely to room temperature before cutting.
  3. Melt Marshmallows: Place marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds until they become gooey and soft but might still look lumpy. Stir them vigorously with a fork until smooth and slightly cool so they can be handled without burning.
  4. Create Cobweb Design: Using two forks, take about a tablespoon of the melted marshmallow and stretch it gently into thin strands. Drape these strands over the cooled brownie squares in a web-like pattern, repeating to cover the surface aesthetically. Serve immediately for the best texture, or store covered for 1-2 days.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure brownies are completely cooled before applying marshmallow webs to prevent melting.
  • Use fresh marshmallows as older ones may not melt smoothly.
  • The cobweb design is delicate; handle the marshmallow strands gently when stretching and draping.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness up to 2 days.
  • You can add a few drops of food coloring to marshmallows before melting to create colorful webs.
