Description

This festive Little Debbie Christmas Tree Trifle is a delightful layered dessert perfect for the holiday season. Featuring bite-sized Christmas Tree Cakes, fresh strawberries, and a creamy mixture of cream cheese and whipped topping, it’s an easy-to-make treat that combines seasonal flavors and textures in a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Cream Mixture

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces whipped topping, thawed

Other Ingredients

  • 12 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes (2 ½ boxes)
  • 1 ½ pounds strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced
  • Coarse green sanding sugar, if desired

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Mixture: Add 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, ⅓ cup powdered sugar, ½ teaspoon almond extract, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into a large bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until smooth, making sure to scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed for even mixing.
  2. Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold in 8 ounces of thawed whipped topping until the mixture is smooth and well combined, maintaining its light texture.
  3. Chop Christmas Tree Cakes: Chop 12 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes into bite-sized pieces, approximately 8 pieces per cake. Set aside.
  4. Layer the Trifle – First Layer: In a large trifle dish, layer half of the chopped Christmas Tree Cakes (6 cakes) evenly at the bottom.
  5. Layer Strawberries and Cream Mixture: Spread half of the 1 ½ pounds of sliced strawberries evenly over the cake pieces, followed by half of the cream mixture on top. Smooth the cream gently with an offset spatula for an even layer.
  6. Repeat the Layers: Repeat the layering process with the remaining 6 cakes, remaining strawberries, and finish by smoothing the remaining cream mixture over the top layer.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, top the trifle with additional Christmas Tree Cake pieces and sprinkle with coarse green sanding sugar for a festive touch. Serve the trifle within 24 hours of assembling to ensure freshness.

Notes

  • For best results, let the cream cheese come to room temperature before mixing to avoid lumps.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for optimal flavor and sweetness.
  • The trifle can be assembled a few hours ahead but is best enjoyed within 24 hours to maintain texture and freshness.
  • If preferred, substitute almond extract with an additional ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Ensure whipped topping is fully thawed before folding in to achieve a smooth consistency.
