Description

Celebrate the holidays with these festive Christmas Oreo Balls, featuring rich Oreo cookie crumbs blended with creamy cream cheese, dipped in vibrant red and green candy melts, and adorned with decorative white buttercream bows and pearl candies. A fun and easy no-bake treat perfect for any holiday gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreo Balls

  • 1 package Oreos, about 36 cookies (15.25 oz)
  • 8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ tsp peppermint extract (optional)
  • Red and green candy melts
  • 2 tsp vegetable shortening or oil (for melting candy)

White Buttercream

  • 3 Tbsp (43g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup (38g) powdered sugar
  • Pearl ball candies (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cream Cheese: Allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature to ensure smooth mixing.
  2. Make Oreo Crumbs: Place half of the Oreos in a blender and pulse until fine crumbs form. Add the remaining Oreos and pulse again until all are finely ground. Transfer crumbs to a mixing bowl.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add softened cream cheese and optional peppermint extract to the Oreo crumbs. Use an electric mixer to blend until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Form Oreo Balls: Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Use a small cookie scoop to scoop mixture, then shape each portion into a square using your hands.
  5. Chill: Place Oreo squares on the baking sheet and refrigerate for 20 minutes to firm up.
  6. Melt Candy Coating: In a small pot over low heat on the stovetop, melt the red and green candy melts with vegetable shortening or oil, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  7. Dip Oreo Balls: Remove chilled Oreo balls from the fridge. Dip each ball into the melted candy, spooning chocolate over the top if needed. Use a fork to lift out, scraping excess chocolate on the pot edge, then place back on the baking mat. Repeat with all balls.
  8. Set Coating: Allow coated Oreo balls to harden at room temperature.
  9. Make Buttercream: Beat unsalted butter in a small bowl until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat until combined. Transfer buttercream to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
  10. Decorate: Pipe white buttercream bows onto each Oreo ball by creating one line across and another perpendicular. Add bow tops using two styles: triangle bows and fluffy round bows. Decorate bows with pearl ball candies.
  11. Serve: Enjoy your festive and delicious Christmas Oreo Balls!

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is fully softened for easy mixing.
  • You can substitute peppermint extract with vanilla or omit for a classic flavor.
  • Vegetable shortening/oil helps to thin candy melts so they dip smoothly.
  • Use a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Store finished Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For a firmer set, refrigerate dipped balls after coating before decorating.
