Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
Filling & Topping
- 1 cup coconut flakes
- 14 oz (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup holiday M&M’s
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13×9 inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, graham cracker crumbs, and salt. Mix thoroughly until the crumbs are evenly coated. Press this mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form a solid crust layer.
- Add Coconut and First Chocolate Layer: Sprinkle the coconut flakes evenly over the crust. Then scatter half of the chocolate chips on top of the coconut. Drizzle the entire layer with the sweetened condensed milk, spreading it gently so it covers the surface.
- Top with M&M’s and Remaining Chocolate: Sprinkle the holiday M&M’s evenly over the top, followed by the remaining chocolate chips for a colorful and decadent topping.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the edges turn a golden brown and the bars are set.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into 24 squares. This ensures the bars hold together well and the flavors meld beautifully.
Notes
- Use parchment paper or foil to easily lift out the bars for cutting and serving.
- For a nuttier flavor, you can add chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans in the layering step.
- Make sure the bars cool fully to avoid crumbling when slicing.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- This recipe can be doubled for a larger batch, just use a bigger pan or bake in batches.
