Description

Deliciously rich and creamy chocolate peanut butter balls that combine the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. These no-bake treats are simple to make, featuring a smooth peanut butter and butter mixture rolled into bite-sized balls, then dipped in melted chocolate and optionally decorated with festive sprinkles. Perfect for holidays, parties, or as a sweet snack anytime.

Ingredients

Scale

Peanut Butter Mixture

  • 1½ cups chunky or creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Coating

  • 12 oz bag of chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons paraffin wax, grated (optional; omit if using candy melts)

Optional

  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Prepare Peanut Butter Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and form a smooth, thick dough.
  2. Form Balls: Shape the peanut butter mixture into approximately 25 equal-sized balls using your hands, ensuring they are compact and round.
  3. Melt Chocolate Coating: Set up a double boiler by bringing water to a rolling boil in the bottom pot. In the top pot, add the chocolate chips and grated paraffin wax (if using). Stir continuously until the chocolate and wax are completely melted and smooth. If using candy melts, omit the wax and follow the package instructions for melting.
  4. Dip Peanut Butter Balls: Using a spoon or fork, dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate to fully coat them. Lift out and gently shake off excess chocolate, then place each coated ball on a rimmed sheet pan lined with wax or parchment paper.
  5. Decorate: While the chocolate coating is still wet, sprinkle with holiday-themed sprinkles or drizzle with white chocolate if desired.
  6. Chill to Set: Place the dipped peanut butter balls in the freezer for about 30 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden completely.

Notes

  • Storage: Store peanut butter balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freezing: They can be frozen in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.
  • If substituting candy melts for chocolate and wax, omit paraffin wax and follow the melting instructions on the candy melts package.
  • Use either chunky or creamy peanut butter based on preference; chunky adds texture, creamy adds smoothness.
  • For easier dipping, slightly chill the peanut butter balls before dipping in chocolate.
