Description
Delicious and simple chocolate covered marshmallows coated in rich semi-sweet chocolate and coconut oil, perfect for a sweet treat or party dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Coating
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
Marshmallows
- 1 bag large marshmallows (12 oz)
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: In a tall mason jar, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and coconut oil together in the microwave using 30-second increments. Stir after each interval until the mixture is smooth and completely melted to avoid burning.
- Dip Marshmallows: Using a skewer, dip each large marshmallow into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Lift it out and gently shake to let any excess chocolate drip off.
- Remove Skewer: Hold the marshmallow upright by placing the skewer between fork tines and carefully pull out the skewer without disturbing the chocolate coating.
- Place on Tray: Slowly push the marshmallow off the fork onto a prepared, lined baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
- Decorate (Optional): While the chocolate is still soft, add your desired toppings to decorate the marshmallows.
- Set Chocolate: Place the baking sheet with the marshmallows in the refrigerator and let the chocolate set completely, which will take about 20 minutes. Enjoy your treats!
Notes
- Use a tall container for melting chocolate to make stirring and dipping easier.
- Work quickly when decorating as the chocolate hardens fast.
- Store leftover chocolate covered marshmallows in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
- You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate according to your preference.
