Ground Beef Mixture
- 1.5 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- 10.5 oz condensed cheddar soup
- 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
Topping
- 1 box Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the cobbler.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Add the diced onions and chopped garlic. Crumble the beef well as it cooks and sauté until the meat is fully browned and onions are softened.
- Add Soups and Seasoning: Stir in the condensed cheddar soup, condensed cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 cup milk, salt, and pepper into the browned beef mixture. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Add Cheese and Remove from Heat: Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese into the beef mixture, then remove the skillet from the heat.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Pour the beef mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Make Biscuit Topping: In a large mixing bowl, pour the biscuit mix and set aside the seasoning packet. Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cups milk to the bowl. Stir the mixture until smooth and no large lumps remain.
- Assemble Cobbler: Pour the biscuit batter evenly over the ground beef layer in the baking dish, covering it completely.
- Bake Cobbler: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 50-55 minutes, or until the biscuit topping is golden brown across the entire surface.
- Butter Seasoning Mixture: While the cobbler is baking, combine the melted butter with the seasoning packet from the biscuit mix.
- Brush Butter Topping: Remove the cobbler from the oven and immediately brush the seasoned melted butter over the biscuit topping, allowing the flavors to soak in.
- Rest and Garnish: Let the cobbler rest for 5 minutes to thicken up the filling. Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley on top for a burst of color and added freshness.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm as a satisfying and flavorful main dish.
