Description

A refreshing and vibrant Blackberry Lemonade recipe that is perfect for a hot summer day. This homemade lemonade is bursting with the sweet-tart flavor of fresh blackberries and zesty lemon juice.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Blackberry Syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries

For the Lemonade:

  • 4 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)

Instructions

  1. Make the Blackberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the sugar and blackberries. Bring to a gentle boil, smashing the berries to release their juice. Cook for 2-3 minutes until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  2. Strain the Syrup: Strain the blackberry syrup through a fine strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher to remove seeds. Discard the seeds.
  3. Prepare the Lemonade: Stir in lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of water into the pitcher with the blackberry syrup.
  4. Serve: Chill the lemonade and serve over ice for a refreshing drink.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the blackberry syrup.
  • You can muddle mint leaves or add a splash of sparkling water for extra flavor.
